Apply abundance in your life!

What is it to be abundant?

Being abundant means having a great deal of something, but that “something” does not refer to financial terms, but to the broader sense of the word.

I can be abundant because I travel with my family, because I help others, because I dedicate myself to what I’m passionate about…

Therefore, abundance must be understood in a broad sense. Don’t just think about money, think about what makes you feel good and happy.

The first question we have to ask is:

How do we feel: affluent or needy?

The influence of beliefs that limit us

As psychologist Enric Corberá maintains,  there are several limiting beliefs that we have ingrained in our minds that prevent us from living in abundance.

The work or the idea we have of work is one of those limiting beliefs, as we assume that in order to receive, we have to give. We believe that we only deserve things for the hard work, effort and sacrifice we put into getting them.

It seems that if we get abundance without effort, we are doing something bad.

Know the principle of abundance

When someone helps us without asking for anything in return, we are used to thinking: what does the person want? Why help me? What do you expect from me? We cannot imagine that he helps us because he wants to do it, because he feels good about helping, without expecting anything.

Another of the limiting beliefs that we have ingrained is attachment to what we possess. We are afraid of losing what we have. Fear of losing our partner, of losing money, of losing a job.

But the reality is, when you have it, you have to be willing to let go for the new to come in. For example, if I have a partner who no longer wants me or doesn’t want to be with me, it’s better to let him go. This is the only way that will allow someone new to enter my life, or that no one will enter, but that I live my solitude with joy and discover myself as a person.

On many occasions, we tend to chase money or other symbols of wealth like an expensive watch, car, etc. An essential question in this regard is: why do I want this?

If the answer is “to get status,” what our way of chasing money or symbols means is that our self-esteem is not okay, because we need something that symbolizes status for society, not for ourselves.

How to get abundance in our lives?

If we start from the basis that we live in abundance, we simply need to improve some aspects of our thinking in order to feel abundant.

Improve our self-esteem

Our self-esteem or the consideration we have for ourselves is an aspect that we must improve in order to obtain abundance. Generally, the idea we have of ourselves depends on what others think of us, and that shouldn’t be the case.

Walter Riso, an Argentine psychologist, gives us some keys to improving self-esteem:

– Encourage self-praise. We should not punish ourselves with negative words about ourselves, but praise ourselves with positive words. Do this, it’s great!

– Reward yourself. When you get something positive in your life, reward yourself. It is not necessary to present yourself with expensive things; if you like sweets, eat some, if you like movies, go once in a while.

– Eliminate repressive beliefs. For example, self-control of feelings. It is true that we must impose certain limits, but we must not forget to enjoy and feel, leaving aside, at times, the rational.

– Do not be ashamed of your successes and your efforts. Try to recognize your achievements and not berate yourself.

“The important thing, then, is not to be beautiful, but to like yourself.”

Changing the beliefs that limit us

In order to be able to live in abundance, it is essential to overcome the limiting beliefs that we have programmed.

To achieve effortless and painless abundance, we must allow new things to come into our lives, we must not feel attached to what we have, and we must not pursue money or symbols of wealth.

To thank

It is important to be grateful for all the circumstances of our life, for their lights and their shadows. Gratitude is one of the most transforming attitudes of human beings.

practice letting go

If you miss something, think that something better will come, and that this emptiness left by what has gone away can be filled by something else, someone else, another circumstance.
